The Day of the Flemish Community of Belgium, also known as Flemish Community Day, is celebrated every year on July 11 in remembrance of the Battle of Golden Spurs. It is observed by the Flemish Community of Belgium.
Following the establishment of the three cultural and linguistic communities of Belgium in 1970, the Dutch Cultural Community enacted a law which prescribed the flag, the anthem and the day of the Dutch Cultural Community.
Flemish (Vlaams), also called Flemish Dutch (Vlaams-Nederlands), Belgian Dutch (Belgisch-Nederlands) or Southern Dutch (Zuid-Nederlands), refers to any of the varieties of the Dutch language spoken in Flanders, the northern part of Belgium.
